ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION REGISTRATION GUIDE:

STEP 1: REGISTER ON THIS SITE:  WWW.DCHUSKIES.org, click on Registration at the top of the homepage and then choose and click on your sport.

STEP 2: After you have completed the ENTIRE REGISTRATION with your personal, medical info, and waivers electronically signed, then click on “REVIEW” and at the bottom of the next page click on “COMPLETE REGISTRATION”.

STEP 3:  NEXT will go to the payment link from MYSCHOOL BUCKS. (link is offered at the end of the registration process). DO NOT just register at MSB and pay the $200 fee and think you have successfully registered, as you will not be eligible.

STEP 4:  TURN in your PHYSICAL FORM to the ATHLETICS OFFICE (61S) or if you have a current one on file from a previous sport this year, then stop by the Athletics Office and let Mrs. Eillers (Athletic Director Assistant) know to transfer it over to the new sport.

STEP 5:  YOU MUST be passing a minimum of 5 classes to be academically eligible after every 6-week marking period. Stop by the Athletics Office and speak with the Athletic Director, Diane Shuck, if you have any questions or concerns.

*Also new since last year, if you have any homeschooled, charter or online student athletes that are NOT OFFICIALLY ENROLLED at DCHS, they need to do the following:

**All students homeschooled, or enrolled in a private or charter school who wish to participate on an DCHS athletic team MUST complete paperwork to register as a Douglas County HS student for the purpose of extracurricular activities.

*You will not be able to register for sports until this paperwork has been completed and processed by the DCHS Registrar.  Please contact Shannon Mason at 303-387-1080 (Shannon.Mason@dcsdk12.org ) for enrollment paperwork.

Hello all,

I would like all parents and players to watch the following videos and read the article linked before tryouts on the 19th. I know many of you have played tournament golf before and this might be a review for you, but that is okay I WANT EVERYONE TO WATCH THE VIDEOS below. Some of you have not played tournament golf before and that’s okay as well. However, you will need to know the basic rules that these videos teach in order to try out and successfully complete TRYOUTS AND COMPETE IN TOURNAMENTS.  The pace of play and following all rules of golf will be very important through tryouts and in our High School tournaments. IT IS EACH PLAYER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW THE RULES. CLAMMING IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR NOT KNOWING THE RULES OF GOLF OR PLAYING SLOWLY. Slow play will be penalized in both tryouts and tournament play throughout the season.

Please watch this video in its entirety before trying out for DCHS golf!

  • Greens fees are $25-$30
  •  Players must pay the golf shop for their round and for any practice balls that they may want to hit before they play the actual round. The school does not pay for any tryout rounds. If a player makes the golf team, all following practice rounds, as well as tournament rounds, will be covered by the DCHS golf program.

  •
Players must have their own clubs, balls, rain gear, etc to try out. Please come prepared for any type of weather! It would be wise to bring rain gear including an umbrella. Players will play in the rain. The round will only be stopped if there is lightning in the area. If it’s raining with no lighting in the area play will continue. Please be prepared.

  •  Players can not count on the golf course having water on the course so they will need to bring their own water
  •
Golf is a game of absolute integrity. All strokes must be counted and all USGA golf rules will be followed. There are no gimmies, mulligans, free drops, etc. Please review this website if you need to learn the rules of golf.   https://www.usga.org/rules-hub.html

It is the responsibility of each player to know the golf rules before trying out. Coaches will assist in making rulings during tryouts only. They will not teach rules during tryouts.

• Players will be responsible for keeping their score and the score of one other player during the round. Scores must be verified between players after completing each hole and before teeing off on the next hole. At the end of the round players will review all scores and make sure that all scores match. After scores have been verified and scores are all correct, players will sign the scorecard of the player that they took score for and then sign their own scorecard once it is given back to them. All signed scorecards must be given to Coach Turnbaugh immediately.
Even though this video was made for US kids golfers, which is a junior tournament golf organization. It shows you the basics of how to keep score during a tournament round of golf. Please watch this video to learn how to, or refresh yourself on how to keep your score as well as a competitor’s score and what to do with the scorecards before and after the round of golf.
